How To Set Your Facebook Fan Page Vanity URL
In this Facebook tutorial (which includes a video to help you), I want to share with you an aspect of fan pages that is often overlooked, but that can increase the exposure of your fan page if you do it correctly.
I’m talking about the facebook fan page url, also known as the facebook vanity url. This is the address of your fan page and the way in which people can find you on Facebook. Many people are unaware that you can optimise this in order to rank higher in the search engines using your page. Optimising the url also means that you can be found more easily and spread the word about your page more easily.
- In order to set your fan page URL, you first need to log in to Facebook (like, duh?!)
- Then, you need to type the following address into the the address bar of your browser: http://www.facebook.com/username. This will take you to the page that allows you to change your username on Facebook.
- Once you’re there, select the page you want to change from the drop-down menu.
- In the box on the right, type in the words that you want to appear after the facebook.com/ part of the address.
- Once you’ve typed the words you want, click on ‘Check Availability’ and Facebook will see if that address is available. If it is, you can choose to permanently change the name of your page to your new URL.
- Job done!
There are a few things to consider when it comes to changing the address of your fan page.

Podcast with SEO Master Phil Henderson – How To Get On The First Page of Google
BOOM! It’s here! I wanted to post this interview last week because it’s a goldmine of great info from a guy who has mastered Search Engine Optimisation or SEO.
Phil Henderson is the guy behind Stupidly Simple SEO, a system that teaches ordinary folk like us the mysteries of how to get on the front page of Google. What’s great about this interview is that, just like when you sign up for the free stuff on his site, Phil over-delivers in a big way.
Over the course of the interview we discuss great (simple) ways of making money online, as well as the nature of internet marketing and why Phil is all about the value he can provide to his ‘people’.
In fact, I used several of Phil’s strategies and was blown away by what he was showing me. Better still, I actually applied the strategies and started driving serious traffic to my YouTube videos, complete with affiliate links, within a couple of hours. My channel on YouTube went from about 1000 upload views to 12,000 upload views in just over 48 hours. Think of what that would do for your affiliate or product business.
As well as that, the stuff that Phil shares, particularly about his legacy is proof (not that it’s needed) that Phil is out to help improve the lives of those around him.
Search Engine Optimisation Advice from Top SEO Expert Matt Cutts – Awesome Training Video
OK, it’s official. I’m a huge nerd.
Trying to pretend that I’m even slightly cool is no longer an option.
I was surfing through the blogosphere (which sounds cool, but isn’t really), looking at some of the top 100 internet marketing blogs out there. Incidentally, if you want to check out the IM blog charts (you know you want to) then visit Winning The Web’s Top IM Blogs.
On one of the blogs – owned by IM expert Matt Cutts – I found this little gem. Actually, Matt’s site is full of little gems. Come to think of it, that’s probably why he’s an expert…
Anyway, Matt’s a bit of a genius when it comes to search engine optimisation. In this video he shares TONS of great information which I know will help your understanding of SEO. So, here it is, in its entirety. It’s a long video – a whole hour, in fact – but it’s time well spent.
Enjoy it and let me know what you think below.
Improving Your Search Engine Rankings – Links From Quality Directories
I’ve been working on trying to get several of my sites onto the front page of the search engines. One of the more traditional ways of making yourself an authority in your niche and making your site relevant (which helps your ranking) is to submit your site to reputable directories.
The problem with that is that it’s totally tedious.
As a result, I went looking for some ways to get it done easily and quickly. I’m happy to pay for the service, as it counts as outsourcing the necessary (but boring) stuff that makes a business run.
And I found this:

It’s a good service and allows you to submit to 1211 directories. What’s more,
Top 10 Most Excellent WordPress Plugins for Internet Marketing
As many of you regular readers will know, I’m a very big fan of WordPress. It’s an excellent system with a myriad of applications. In fact, I run all my sites on WordPress, ever since David Cavanagh first showed me how easy it is.
The plugins – elements that can be added to increase the functionality of the site – are part of what makes WordPress so good.
Anyway, I thought I’d share with you the 10 top plugins that I believe every blog site needs to run effectively. There are other plugins out there that do similar things but from my own testing and plenty of trial and error, these are the best ones. To get them installed on your blog, simply go into WordPress, click ‘Plugins’ on the left hand menu and click ‘Add New’. From there, just type their names into the search bar (one at a time) and then click ‘Install’ next to the one you want.
So, here’s the list for your blogging/site-building pleasure…
