How To Leverage Domain Names to Cloak Affiliate Links and Get Loads of Backlinks

If you read my blog last week, you’ll see that I chatted a bit about the new plugin I discovered thanks to my friend Wayne Lambert. The plugin is called Pretty Links and helps you to cloak links using your own domain name. Very cool.

Well, I have an update for you…

I was writing some articles recently for Ezine and other similar directories and realised that they wouldn’t accept these cloaked links, even though I’d made them pretty. Incidentally, when I say pretty, I don’t mean that I’ve covered them in flowers and patterns. I just mean that they now have look like this:

mydomainname.com/pretty-link

instead of like this:

bit.ly/random-collection-of-letters

So, although the plugin is awesome for blog and e-mail postings, it doesn’t work for article links. However, what does work very well is using domain names to cloak the links. Basically, you buy a domain name, then set it up to forward to your affiliate link. Whenever anyone clicks on it, it takes them straight to the affiliate promotion.

Now you may be thinking: ‘Yeah, but isn’t it more expensive to buy a domain name every time you want to cloak an affiliate link?’

Yes, of course it is, but there’s a very good ‘up side’ to doing it this way.

Brilliant Free Plugin for WordPress To Cloak Your Links And Make Them Look Pretty!

I’ve discovered a little gem for you all, thanks to my marketing mate Wayne Lambert.

Wayne was checking out my blog and noticed that I was using bit.ly in order to cloak my links. Cloaking links is a good way of making links more attractive to the reader. For example, it’s always a good idea to cloak links to affiliate products in order to make them look better. ClickBank has started using particularly ugly affiliate links for products that look like this:

Using bit.ly, you can shorten the link to make it look like this instead:

http://bit.ly/ExampleLink

Now this looks much better already, but it isn’t associated with your own site. This is where Wayne stepped in and suggested a little work of plugin genius.

It’s called Pretty Links and it enables you to create Read the rest of this entry »

How To Use Your Blog To Get Backlinks To Your Business Site To Get Some Google Love! [VIDEO]

Hey folks,

I was just working on some material to help a friend of mine who runs an unusual business. I wanted to show him how to use his blog (hosted at Blogger.com) to give himself some backlinks to his e-commerce site. These links will help him be found in Google for the words he wants to be found for. In this case it’s ‘christening gifts for boys’ as well as several other keywords.

I figured this info would be helpful to you guys too so I put this video together. Enjoy!

The Warrior Forum – An Amazing Resource for the Internet Marketing Community

This is a tool that I’ve discovered thanks to fellow marketer Simon Cad, in his excellent e-book, a review of which will be available on here shortly.

Excellent Free Plugin For WordPress To Create Links Automatically for SEO

I was looking over my other websites (mainly the one for the London magician business that I’m giving up this year) and stumbled across a plugin that I’d forgotten about.

As you know, SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is largely based on getting good links both within your site and from good, high-ranking sites.

This plugin mainly helps you to sort out the internal links, leaving you time to manage the external links. If you have multiple sites on WordPress, you can use it to create mutual links between them.

It works by automatically linking your site up, by finding keywords and phrases that will link from your posts and pages to other parts of the site. As you post new stuff, the plugin sets up more links.

You can also program it to find specific instances of your own keywords and always have them link to the same place every time. As I said, this is awesome if you have other WordPress sites as you can use this to create mutual backlinks between them all, bringing them all up to the same levels of links and Google juice!

Every time that word comes up, you get a new link, either internal or external.

This is good stuff and once you set it up, you can forget about it until you change or add to your keywords.

And as you may have worked out, set-and-forget is my favourite.

Get this, it’s invaluable.
