Manifesto of an Internet Marketing Actor – Fulfil Your Dreams or Die Tryin’
It’s been a very interesting couple of weeks for me in the world of online marketing. I’ve stumbled across and discovered a whole host of amazing people in internet business that are achieving the results that I want, in many cases, from the same methods I want to use. I will of course be sharing these with you over the coming weeks and months.
I also had a very interesting conversation with a friend of mine and that is the reason for this post. She’s an actor/actress (I never know which one it’s supposed to be) and I’ve been fortunate enough to appear in plays with her. She’s very talented and has appeared on TV. She’s also recently been asked to audition for one of my favourite TV shows.
However, like most actors, she spends most of her time working for someone else in order to have the money she needs to live.
‘That’s great Matt, but so what?’ you might be thinking…
Well, during our discussion, she said to me that she thought I was using my internet business to put off doing what I really love (acting). She asked how long it would take to set up my business and get it to the stage where I was happy with it. She was (and probably still is) concerned that I wouldn’t allow myself to reach my goals because I was too busy focussing on the money and the business.
This made me stop and think and I want to know if this has ever happened to you. Has a friend said something about your pursuit of internet marketing that has made you reconsider your goals. How did you deal with it?
In my case, I know deep inside my being that I can have the life I want. I can have an internet business that makes me money with only a small amount of effort to keep it running. And I know this business will pay for all those things that I need to get me ahead as an actor and without living the tough hand-to-mouth existence of most performers.
However, I also know that it takes months of hard work to get that business to that stage. Anyone who tells you internet marketing is easy and will make you money quickly is generally full of shit. Sorry to be blunt, but that’s the truth of the matter. Ask anyone who’s ever created anything worthwhile and meaningful and they’ll tell you it took time, patience and consistent effort.
What my friend doesn’t know is that not a day goes by where I don’t think about my ultimate goal and all the little goals that I want between now and then.
So, this is my manifesto for succeeding and creating the life I want. I’m setting it out here because I want you to hold me accountable to it. I already hold myself to it, but knowing that I’ve declared it to the world in writing means an extra level of commitment.
I will create an online business that will earn me at least £10,000 (around $15,000) per month, every month. It may take me a year to do it but I will do it. When I’ve reached that stage, I will channel my efforts into the fulfilment of my dreams and goals. I will be on stage at The National Theatre in London in five years time and this business will help get me there financially, paying for all the headshots, Spotlight Directory listings and all the shows I want to be a part of.
These are my goals and dreams for my online business, leading to one ultimate goal – the true and glorious feeling of fulfilment, of having achieved what I want to achieve.
So, what are your goals? You need to be brave to state them here but I’m convinced that the rewards for doing so are great.
Please leave a comment below if this affected you and if you want to share your goals.
Thanks for reading this.

Brilliant Matt and I support you in your vision and believe it will happen.
My dream is to publish my book, have it made into a film and be standing on the stage at BAFTA which I have hired to screen it with all the people who have supported me and industry people there. I will have a house by the beach, in a warm country facing the atlantic, I will have enough money to support myself and my family and that will be made from me being a life coach and public speaker on the back of my life story. My blog will bring in thousands of people who will pay for my experiences to help them and I wil set up a Social Enterprise to help people who have been in similar position as me. I wil be happy because I have fulfilled my lifes purpose and I will be taking acting classes and be in films and on the stage. Thank you for your manifesto. I wish you every success. Love Penny
Thank you Penny.
I really love your dream and goal and, as you know I want to be there at BAFTA when you’re screening it. Carly’s made a very good point though. When will all that wonderful happiness happen?
Let’s set some deadlines and turn the dreams into goals.
Matt
Hey Matt!
What an awesome post. You should be worried now as here I come with a big essay! Lol.
Firstly, I have some advice (this comes from life coaching). Please change your statement below, to the one below that.
“I will create an online business that will earn me at least £10,000 (around $15,000) per month, every month. It may take me a year to do it but I will do it. When I’ve reached that stage, I will channel my efforts into the fulfilment of my dreams and goals. I will be on stage at The National Theatre in London in five years time and this business will help get me there financially, paying for all the headshots, Spotlight Directory listings and all the shows I want to be a part of.”
To this:
I have an online business (add in specifically what it is, a product, an ebook, a a membership site?)that earns me £10,000 (around $15,000) per month, every month on August 11th 2011. I will channel 100% effort into acheiving my dreams and goals. I am on stage at The National Theatre in London in August 2016 and my internet business will pay for this. Please make this happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned. (also add in how this makes you feel).
Through coaching it is essential to put your goal into the present tense with clear and precise instructions. I’d love you to write this statement by hand, (tweak it if you like) and read it back to yourself until you are completely happy with what has been written. Their must be no inner conflict when you read it. If there is, change it until you feel completely 100% happy with the statement. Once you have your statement (and it is written down by hand) read it back to yourself 100 times until your subconscious mind takes it in as FACT. Read it every day without fail. Keep it next to your computer.
You asked for my goal, so here it is (this is just a money goal):
I earn £12,000 net profit after tax each and every month on April 8th 2011.
We have 20 clients in Social Media Managers all paying £400 a month. The work is outsourced to members in our social diva membership. I take £100 a month cut. Which leaves me with £2660 before tax.
There are 1000 members in Social Diva Marketing all paying £29.97 a month which leaves me with £9990 (after dividing by 3 with my business partners). On December 15th 2010 I have 5 coaching clients every month who pay me £300 each. This makes me £1500. Altogether I earn £14,150 before tax so £12,000 after tax. On July 25th 2012 I own a winebago and am going travelling around Europe for one year. I am focused, my emotions are balanced and I have time freedom with my family. Please make this happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Hope this helps Matt

P.S maybe I got the tax slightly wrong but it doesn’t matter! Lol.
P.S You WILL achieve everything you have said and you are allowed to have more than one passion, it’s human nature. The more the better. For what it’s worth, I think you are an awesome internet marketer! I bet you’re also an amazing magician and actor. What a brilliant thing to be skilled in so many areas. I even think you could bring out a magic info product, with audio, video and ebook that you could sell to that niche. Have you thought about that? x
Hooray! Carly’s back!
At this rate, I won’t need to write my blog anymore… I can just outsource to you Carly. I’ll just give you the subject matter and away you go!
On a slightly more serious note, thank you. You make a very good point indeed which I didn’t include in my original post. I didn’t target the exact time that I will manifest these things in my life. Silly really, as the goals I have on my wall next to my desk are very specific.
Congratulations on setting such a great goal for yourself. I love how precise it is, both in terms of dates and actions.
The problem I have is that I set these goals for the very near future, then get disappointed if I don’t reach them. If I do reach them, I’ve done it under massive pressure of my own creation.
I will sit down tonight and write my goal in the present tense, and then make it a fact in my mind. Really like that exercise and the idea of my subconscious working on it as if it were already true. Which it of course, it is
.
Thank you for sharing this, not only with me but with my readers (817 unique ones in the last 30 days and rising!).
Matt
P.S: Yeah, the idea of a magic product has crossed my mind. The thing I keep putting in the way of making it happen is that a couple of other guys have done it VERY well already. I guess subconsciously I think that there isn’t enough room in the market, which of course, then makes that my reality. I also want to move away from magic as I want to focus on my acting dream and creating a great business that funds that. Does that make sense?
Hey Matt!
I know I’m terrible! Lol. I don’t claim to know all the answers, I just share what I have learned and what I am applying myself. I think this would be great for you to do (the statement).
Re: The magic, if you want to move away from that, that is all cool! I totally get what you are doing. I’d love to hear more about your acting plans. I always say to people if they have a passion or know something really well, it’s easier to create an info product and build a list based around that and also quicker to turn around. With Internet Marketing, people always go for the IM niche because it’s in mass demand, but there is always mass competition too and products being released left right and centre. But if you are passionate about it, stand out and provide true value (like you) then you will do awesome. I can’t wait to see more of your journey!
Keep doing your stuff Matt!
Big love
Carly x
P.S My son is interested in acting, can you recommend a good place for him to get started at all?

A great resource for declaring your goals to the outside world, thus giving yourself the drive to succeed through psychological accountability is 43things.com
By going there, it’s actually interesting to see what some people’s goals are. Can you believe that some people actually have “wake up when my alarm clock goes off” or “have someone paint me” as their goals?
Still second best to having an actual accountability coach who will give you a hard time if you’re not hitting your goals though!
Thanks,
Wayne
Great shout Wayne.
I’d totally forgotten about 43things.com. Some of those goals are hilarious! Do you have a coach you’re accountable to? Sounds like a plan.
Thanks for dropping by.
