I was using 'Redirection' and it was causing all the problems. I got rid of it (thanks to Steve, who I mentioned in the post) and all the problems went away. I had same issue today. Problem i figured out lately was, it is because i was using "redirection wordpress plugin" i immediately removed it and things were back to normal.
