How To Get More Customers – 4 Simple Methods

get more customersI’ve recently been working on a new service for my search engine and social media marketing business. The idea is to list local businesses in over 120 local business sites for a small cost in order to get them massive exposure. You can click the following link to see the Business Listing Service.

Anyway, it got me thinking about you lovely readers of mine, here on the Adventures blog. That service of mine is targeted at UK business owners, but it got me thinking…

What are the best universal ways to get more customers, regardless of your country?

Well, with my thinking cap firmly in place to keep my shiny head warm, I came up with the following 4 simple methods. Use them wisely, young Jedi…Oh, and as with all the strategies I share with you, make sure you focus on one and master it before you start another. Be a master, not a jack of all trades.

Presenting, How To Get More Customers, the Matt Duggan way!

Build Your List of Prospects and Customers

You will have heard this time and again in you’ve been in online marketing for longer than about 5 minutes, but there’s a reason for that: It works.

Those people that are making good money in their businesses have a way of getting in touch with their existing clients in order to promote new offers to them.

Think about this for a moment…

Imagine you have a new service or product you want to sell. Naturally you want to sell as many as possible because you know that your offering is going to help people.

Who will be easier to sell it to?

  • People who’ve never heard of you before and with whom you have no rapport.
  • People with whom you have a relationship with and who may even have bought from you before.

In case you weren’t sure, I’ve given you a clue!

With that in mind, you need to be building a list and dividing it between prospects and customers. If you’re not sure, it’s easy. Customers have bought something and deserve special attention. Prospects haven’t. They may or may not buy something in the future, but until they put their hands in theit pockets, they’re prospects.

How to Do It:

Simple. Give something away for free.

It can be a report or whitepaper (these tend to be more popular than the word ‘ebook’) on something in your industry that people want to know about. For example, this article, if expanded with more illustrations and step-by-step elements, could easily be a white paper. In fact, I’ll be using parts of it as part of the giveaway on the site with the business listing service.

Free Guide: What is CPA Marketing, How Does It Work And How Can I Do It?

CPA AffiliateI was talking to a friend of mine recently about my marketing business and explaining one of the newer parts of it. I realised that I hadn’t shared this with you. As always, I want to keep you ‘in the loop’ with what I’m doing in order that you can learn from it and perhaps even be inspired to try this yourself.

What is CPA Marketing?

CPA stands for Cost Per Action and it refers to a type of marketing that usually involves you generating leads for companies and in turn, those companies giving you a small payment for each lead.

It works like this:

You generate traffic from one or more sources which you then send to an offer. The offer is usually for a free trial or free gift that the customer can get by filling out a survey or similar. In most cases, the company that has created the offer requires the customer to opt in or fill out their address before they pay you for that lead. Once they’ve done that, you get your payment. Simple!

How Much Does It Pay?

Generally, the payment for each lead tends for vary. However, you can usually expect between $1 to $6 per lead, depending on what the offer is. In very competitive markets like the insurance market, there are life cover offers that will pay you up to $22 per lead. However, as I said, these are highly competitive markets and not great if you’re only just starting out on a lower budget.

How Do I Do It?

I was introduced to CPA marketing by a friend of mine who then recommended a course by Saj P called Zero Friction Marketing. This course taught me everything I’m going to share with you here and if you can still get a copy, I’d recommend you do.

So how do you get started with CPA marketing?

Well, it happens in stages.

  1. Sign up with an affiliate network
  2. Find a method of driving targeted traffic (which I’ll show you in a moment)
  3. Get your affiliate links
  4. Drive traffic to the links

The first stage is to sign up with a CPA affiliate network. You will need Read the rest of this entry »

10 Top YouTube Tips For Effective Video Marketing

make money onlineHaving used YouTube with some success for a while now, I’ve picked up a good number of tools and tips that help videos get seen and ranked well.

Once you reach a certain point, the videos you upload can have a viral effect, where the views just keep coming. By adding a link in the video description, you can create a little flow of constant traffic to the site of your choosing.

I mentioned on way to use YouTube in my previous post (using Fiverr to get views) but I’m still testing this. The tips mentioned below are the fundamentals that have worked for me for a long time. They also work for a lot of other people on YouTube and many of those people have built businesses off the back of the knowledge I’m going to share with you here.

So, without further ado, here are my 10 top tips for video marketing using YouTube:

  1. Keywords: You may have heard of the Google Keyword Tool. It’s an awesome resource for researching the words that people are typing into Google to find things in your niche. Here’s the surprising thing… YouTube has it’s own keyword tool! You can find it at https://ads.youtube.com/keyword_tool. You can use it to find out what people are searching for on YouTube and in what volumes. But it gets better… You can also use it to find all the keywords that the most successful videos are using, then use them yourself! So, go and find the top videos in your niche and run the address through YouTube’s keyword tool. Then add them to your own videos. It might just be genius!
  2. Building links to your videos will help them to be ranked higher, thus getting them more views. You can do this in a number of ways, including linking to the video from a blog post (or just embedding it), or by simply linking to it from your Twitter or Facebook profile.
  3. Add tags to your videos that match your chosen keywords. If you don’t have them, you can use the keyword tool above to find them. Don’t leave these out when you’re uploading. Take the time during the upload process to find the right tags for your video clip, as it will pay off in a big way once it’s live and ready to watch.

Phenomenal Strategy for Using YouTube to Build a List and Make Money Online

internet marketing blogI’ve been mentioning Fiverr.com on here a fair bit recently after I discovered it about 6 weeks ago. It’s made outsourcing very approachable. Beforehand, I was concerned about needing to employ someone full time and being a little reticent to venture into outsourcing before I had several income streams set up.

I think I mentioned a few weeks back that I was on a call with my IM (internet marketing) mentor, Neil Asher. Incidentally, getting a mentor doesn’t have to be pricey – you can get on Neil’s coaching program for £4.95 (around $8) by going to this page. On that call, I mentioned Fiverr and Neil and the rest of the coaching group fell in love with it… The down side is that it will probably make us all less effective in our businesses for a few weeks as we spend some money on some of the more silly ‘gigs’ on there. :)

Anyway…

About two weeks after that call, I got a comment here on my blog from one of the other guys who was on that call. His name is Chris G and he had taken some of my suggestions about Fiverr and acted on them in a BIG way! Already, I was very pleased to be the person to have introduced him to the site, but even more pleased when he told me his (frankly unbelievable) results.

This is the comment he left me:

Exposed: 3 Simple Commitment Triggers That Make Your Prospects Want To Buy

I’ve been reading up on persuasion recently. Not for anything sinister, you understand (internet marketing cult anyone?).

No, I’ve been reading up on it because I know that I’ve been influenced by it in the past, as I’m sure have you. As a result, I want to know what went on in those situations in order to be able to use that technique myself when creating sales letters, offers etc.

As a result of a conversation with Neil Asher, I picked up a copy of Dr. Robert Cialdini’s book Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion

In it, Cialdini talks about a number of different elements that affect our judgement and turn us from prospects into buyers. It’s brilliant, and I wanted to relate something from it to you, as I think you’ll be able to apply it to your business.

In the book Cialdini outlines several ways and examples in which people have been made to comply with a request to buy something. In most cases, the thing they’re buying is an idea, but you can easily see how this can be related to a product or service. In fact, most products should be sold on the idea of what they can do for you, not on how technically brilliant they are. Prospects find this far more inspiring as they can see an improvement in their lives, not just a shiny product.

One chapter in the book talks about Commitment. It seems that we humans are suckers for commitment when it comes to buying into an idea.

Simply stated, commitment and consistency are two elements that we all want to maintain. It’s bigger than just talking about that one sale – we want to be seen as consistent and committed to our decisions in everything we do. Society has taught us that being consistent is something to aspire to, and that being inconsistent means you perhaps can’t be trusted.

As a result of this, we marketers can use commitment and our buyers’ need to be consistent to get them to purchase our product or buy into our brand.

Warning: These techniques are powerful. Do yourself and all of us a favour and only use them to promote and sell things that are worthy, helpful and have a positive influence.
