Brilliant Free Traffic Source List for Bloggers and Internet Marketers (Part One)

I was browsing through The Warrior Forum as I tend to do more or less daily and stumbled across an awesome post which I wanted to share here.

A discussion had started about traffic generation – the science of getting visitors to your website. The thread started with 9 very good methods of getting traffic, but then Craig Caron wandered onto the thread and blew everyone away with the following methods.

If you picked and implemented three or four of these, you’re more than likely to build a steady flow of traffic to your site. Awesome stuff.

The list is so large, I’m going to split it over two days. Here’s Part 1. Enjoy!

WARNING: Some of the techniques are a bit maverick and not condoned by me and this blog (although they did really make me laugh – just look out for the airport and the eBay ‘stunts’).

The Traffic Generation List

  • Write a press release and submit it to PRWeb Press Release Distribution Increases Online Visibility and Web Traffic.
  • Promote your site using cheap or free classified ads in targeted ezines or newsletters.

  • Wow, that’s a great post Matt. Thanks for sharing.

Here’s a few more to add to that list…

    - Go to http://www.fivver.com and leverage other people’s big social networks for $5 by asking them to send your blog or landing page out to them. It’s amazing what you can do on that website for $5!

    - Save your product in .exe format so it qualifies as software, research product keywords that are successful in competing products, use them to list your product on high traffic download sites. The most famous being download.com

    - Use resource links at the bottom of high traffic Wiki sites which are linked back to HIGH QUALITY content on your blog. This won’t work with squeeze pages and won’t work 100% of the time, but is worth playing the numbers.

    - Use Tube Mogul to distribute video content. This used to be free and now they’re billing videos for business, although you should still be able to submit videos that are under 300MB without being challenged. The limit used to be 1000MB which was enough for the 10 minute YouTube limit.

    • Matt:

Great stuff Wayne, thanks for sharing these. I’ve started using TubeMogul recently and it’s very good. Hadn’t heard of Fivver.com, so thanks very much for that one. I’ll check it out and may do a blog post about it, depending how I get on. Saving in .exe format is a clever idea too… Does the content still work ok even if it’s an e-book?

      Matt

P.S. I’ll answer that e-mail you sent me later. Been a bit of a bonkers week.

  • Yes, you can save PDF’s into a .exe format. You do need some software to do that which you’ll be able to find at Giveaway events. If you did want to invest (a reasonable sum for the benefits), Adeel Chowdry has a product on Clickbank called Software Submitter Pro which converts files into .exe format and allows you to deploy your software at many different download sites simultaneously.

  • Hey Matt

Thanks so much for adding my suggestions here. Also Wayne, i forgot about Fivver. Thanks for the reminder. Fivver is a real cool site and have used it a few times to build my list. For $5 you cant beat it.

Matt if theres anything i can do for you just give me a shout. Much appreciated.
