10 Top YouTube Tips For Effective Video Marketing
Having used YouTube with some success for a while now, I’ve picked up a good number of tools and tips that help videos get seen and ranked well.
Once you reach a certain point, the videos you upload can have a viral effect, where the views just keep coming. By adding a link in the video description, you can create a little flow of constant traffic to the site of your choosing.
I mentioned on way to use YouTube in my previous post (using Fiverr to get views) but I’m still testing this. The tips mentioned below are the fundamentals that have worked for me for a long time. They also work for a lot of other people on YouTube and many of those people have built businesses off the back of the knowledge I’m going to share with you here.
So, without further ado, here are my 10 top tips for video marketing using YouTube:
- Keywords: You may have heard of the Google Keyword Tool. It’s an awesome resource for researching the words that people are typing into Google to find things in your niche. Here’s the surprising thing… YouTube has it’s own keyword tool! You can find it at https://ads.youtube.com/keyword_tool. You can use it to find out what people are searching for on YouTube and in what volumes. But it gets better… You can also use it to find all the keywords that the most successful videos are using, then use them yourself! So, go and find the top videos in your niche and run the address through YouTube’s keyword tool. Then add them to your own videos. It might just be genius!
- Building links to your videos will help them to be ranked higher, thus getting them more views. You can do this in a number of ways, including linking to the video from a blog post (or just embedding it), or by simply linking to it from your Twitter or Facebook profile.
- Add tags to your videos that match your chosen keywords. If you don’t have them, you can use the keyword tool above to find them. Don’t leave these out when you’re uploading. Take the time during the upload process to find the right tags for your video clip, as it will pay off in a big way once it’s live and ready to watch.
The Thinking Behind The Adventures in Internet Marketing
I asked my subscribers for their feedback recently. I simply posed the question: ‘What do you want to learn?’
One of the many replies I recieved was from a guy called Ian who asked a couple of very good questions. I thought that rather than just answering him via e-mail, I would share the questions and my answers to them.
So here goes:
Do you look for the niche first then create a product around it or do you have an idea for a product then research it’s viability?
This is an interesting one. The truth is, I’ve done it both ways but from my experience, there’s only one way that is very likely to work:
- Find a niche that you have some interest in – The interest isn’t vital but helps to determine where you start looking.
- Find out if there are people selling to that market – Run a search for all the terms you can think of relating to that niche and see if there are Google ads for it. Also look to see if there are people on the first page with things to sell on their site.
- Find out if there are people buying in that market (this is vital) – Forums within your niche are a good place for this. Also, look on Clickbank and Amazon to see if there are products out there. On Clickbank you can see if the product is actually selling.
- Find out what they want to buy – Note that I didn’t say ‘need’ to buy. Again, best way is to ask them. Go to forums and see what they’re discussing and what problems aren’t being solved well enough by others.
- Then create a product around that and place it on Clickbank.
When I first started, I created a product that I thought the market needed. It was a lot harder to sell than subsequent products because I was attempting to sell them something I thought they needed. In fact, I should have looked into what they wanted to buy. I also needed a market full of rabid buyers – ideally people who are obsessed by their field of interest. The classic example are golfers, but there are hundreds out there.

Ben Hulme’s List Profit Ninja – Why List Building As You Know It Is Dead [VIDEO REVIEW]
Ok, let me say something up front. I really like Ben Hulme and the way he works. I’m pleased to say he’s become a friend of mine since we met at Mark Anastasi’s Clickbank Masterclass a few months back. So you could accuse me of bias in this review of his latest system.
However, I don’t blog about systems that I don’t believe in.
The only way I can be ‘made’ to believe in something is to try it and do it myself. If it works for me, I’ll tell you about it. If not, I tend to just keep quiet.
Please Note: Before you carry on reading, this is NOT for total beginners. You will need to know how to put together a product and how to set up an opt-in page on your website. You can find out how to create products here and if you have an autoresponder account, then they will be able to show you how to do the opt-in form. If you don’t have an autoresponder account, I use Total Business Cart.
When I met Ben, he shared the basic idea of this system with me. It sounded fairly simple. Sure, it required work, but not a massive amount considering the returns that Ben was making. I tried it and actually made money!

I was pretty impressed and I’ve started doing this more and trying my own methods for it. But every time I try something new using this system, I see that Ben’s already done the groundwork and already tested and tried all the possible variations. Now that I have the full course, I’ve joined the dots and made it work even more effectively. But there’s more…
Phenomenal Strategy for Using YouTube to Build a List and Make Money Online
I’ve been mentioning Fiverr.com on here a fair bit recently after I discovered it about 6 weeks ago. It’s made outsourcing very approachable. Beforehand, I was concerned about needing to employ someone full time and being a little reticent to venture into outsourcing before I had several income streams set up.
I think I mentioned a few weeks back that I was on a call with my IM (internet marketing) mentor, Neil Asher. Incidentally, getting a mentor doesn’t have to be pricey – you can get on Neil’s coaching program for £4.95 (around $8) by going to this page. On that call, I mentioned Fiverr and Neil and the rest of the coaching group fell in love with it… The down side is that it will probably make us all less effective in our businesses for a few weeks as we spend some money on some of the more silly ‘gigs’ on there.
Anyway…
About two weeks after that call, I got a comment here on my blog from one of the other guys who was on that call. His name is Chris G and he had taken some of my suggestions about Fiverr and acted on them in a BIG way! Already, I was very pleased to be the person to have introduced him to the site, but even more pleased when he told me his (frankly unbelievable) results.
This is the comment he left me:
The Winner of Matt’s ‘How To Add Personality To Your Marketing’ Contest is…
Thanks to all those lovely folk who took the time to enter into the spirit of the contest and provide such great incites. Particular thanks to Cher Pearce, Joseph Bushnell and of course the winner, Carly Taylor.
This was Carly’s (awesome) response to the video:

Inspiration from a Man on a Serious Mission: The Millionaire Challenge
As you may know if you’ve read my blog before, I enjoy going to offline events where I get to meet and network with those who are creating the lives they want with internet marketing.
In fact, many of the best relationships I have online were formed at offline events, either randomly bumping into internet marketers or going there specifically to meet them. Some of the most interesting people are those marketers who are still ‘underground’, working away in the background, earning good money just doing their thing, not shouting about it.
Some of them are revealed on stage, but many are just walking amongst the crowds, unknown (for the moment). Ben Hulme is one example of an up-and-coming marketer who makes very good money online and who will doubtless be a star of internet marketing in the future.
However, I’m getting slightly off-topic…
One of the most remarkable marketers I’ve met was a quiet, unassuming guy I met at an offline event. The event was Mark Anastasi’s Clickbank Masterclass.
We chatted and he mentioned that he was bringing out a product or two in the very near future. I took his card and wished him luck with it.
There was an intensity about him that intrigued me. Read the rest of this entry »
